What is sea room?
At sea, sea room is the water available to maneuver—the space that gives you options and keeps you off a lee shore.
Learning needs room, too. Room to think. Room to try. Room to make a mistake, understand it, and recover. A screen cannot replace experience aboard, but it can create useful space to practice before the stakes are real.

The boat sailed away
without me.
I first tried to teach myself to sail a Sunfish with a 1956 copy of Royce’s Sailing Illustrated. On a small lake, there was room for mistakes—including one particularly memorable lesson.
Years later, learning to sail as a family brought back the same question in a more serious form: what can people learn before they step aboard that will help them understand more once they are there?
